Summary
The Three Brothers is a complex of three houses in Riga, Latvia, which are believed to be the oldest medieval dwellings in the city. The houses are situated in the Old Town, and each of them represents various architectural styles – Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. The buildings have been restored to their original appearance, and now they house the State Inspection for Heritage Protection and the Latvian Museum of Architecture.
The oldest of the three, dating back to the late 15th century, is the house on the right, which is a fine example of Gothic architecture. The house in the middle, built in the early 17th century, demonstrates Renaissance style with its elaborate sgraffito facade. Finally, the house on the left, erected in the late 17th century, features Baroque elements, such as the ornate portal and stucco decorations.
